Introducing Titan HD Extract

Introducing Titan HD Extract

Many cameras can shoot in 4K today, but most clients still want HD. How can a 4K camera become an enhanced HD device? Introducing Titan HD Extract.

Titan HD Extract is the latest upgrade option for the Odyssey & Apollo monitor/recorders. Titan HD Extract uses one 4K camera to create three HD video signals. One frame is a SuperSample of the full image area and two are windows selected from within the original input. These windows can be panned smoothly through the 4K field and the three angles can be Live-Switched. All four HD signals can be recorded simultaneously in Apple ProRes with matching timecode and file names.

When All Else Fails, Apollo Doesn't

ThingsGoWrongSometimes things go wrong.
Most don’t like to talk about it, but smart design means planning for failures.
Even someone else’s.

Apollo can record up to four HD video inputs simultaneously, as well as a fifth channel of a Live-Switch between the four inputs or a Quad-Split view showing them all together.  Placing all five recordings in one device is a great convenience, but it also means that Convergent Design had to design Apollo’s recording to be bulletproof.  Failure could be catastrophic and was not an option.

Mike Gomes Uses Odyssey7Q+ to Shoot 4K on “The Dwarvenaut”

Mike Gomes Uses Odyssey7Q+ to Shoot 4K on “The Dwarvenaut”

When Director of Photography Mike Gomes began prep for the feature documentary “The Dwarvenaut,” he was unfamiliar with the Sony FS7 camera. “It was just hitting the market,” explained Gomes. “Producer Jason Diamond introduced me to it. With the XDCA Extension Back I could use proper batteries and other accessories, but most importantly I could get 4K RAW out of the camera and into an Odyssey7Q+.
